To All The Boys I've Loved Before

Updated: Apr 12

If love is like a possession, maybe my letters are like exorcisms.

The Quick Summary:

Lara Jean has a particular habit when she likes a boy. She writes him a love letter, on her prettiest stationery, telling him everything she feels about him, and hides it away. She's written five in total, and they are the kind of intense, no holds barred, this is a part of me you're never gonna see letters that would totally ruin anyone's impression of you and make them think you're a crazy person. And it's not like they're written to random people either. One's to her sister's ex-boyfriend and one's to her ex best friend's sort of ex boyfriend. They're stored in a box, addressed and everything for safekeeping, her deepest secret. No one knows about the letters and the crushes. Until they all get sent out and Lara Jean goes from having no love life to hiding from guys who want to talk to her. Let us just say she's in for a lot of chaos, shall we?

Who'd like this book?

This book is the type of book you want to read if you like high school rom coms. It's the epitome of romantic comedy, with the lovable characters and predictable storyline that comforts you like a warm hug.

Teso's Review:

You know that feeling when a form of entertainment made by a person you've never met accidentally sums up your entire life? No? Just me? Cool. This book and specifically this main character, made me feel seen. Mostly because like Lara Jean, I cannot flirt for the life of me, and I absolutely have issues with feelings, (mostly my own) and somehow still manage to be a hopeless romantic. I think that she's the type of romance novel heroine that we need. Sure, the book's cheesy and you can see the ending coming from a mile away, but sometimes, you want a guilty pleasure book, and one with a good main character and main relationship is a must. This book captures that oh so teenage experience of having a crush and accidentally telling them, and it made me feel so awkward I wanted to leave and so sad I wanted to cry all at the same time, but it's a fantastic novel all in all. I also want to mention that Lara Jean being Asian American meant so much to me, just to see her represent her culture even if it was in little throwaway comments about going to a relative's house in traditional wear or something like that because it was important to see a character be a member of their culture. Her dynamic with her siblings is something I can appreciate, especially because I have a sibling myself and it's painfully accurate. I cannot stress enough how much I like this book. I love it. Please read it.

Teso Rambles: Genres

I know everything I've ever written here screams "she does this about the romance ONLY" but I'm not always in it for the romance. Once in a while I like a good whack or two with a sword. Or a stick, o
